Fire eating was originally part of the Hindu, Sadhu and Fakir religion; it was used to demonstrate spiritual attainment. It allowed the fire-eaters to communicate with the deity Kali Maa.
In the late 1800’s fire eating started appearing in the standard sideshow and circus acts; where it originally started to gain its popularity. Fire eating is still as popular as it once was, stunning and mesmerizing audiences are still thrilled by its fascinating and dangerous allure.
