NorthFIRE Circus and Bass Witch Coven Present:

Theatre on FIRE: The Witches

The show is called Theatre on FIRE: The Witches. It is a collective creation between aerial circus and fire dance all set to sounds of electronic music produced by Jonah K and visual by Jax A Muse. We are exploring the relationship between aerial and fire dance and how the sounds of music can bring us together. The Witches reflects feminism by drawing parallels to modern female empowerment and by reclaiming the word “Witch”.

Theatre on FIRE

Theatre on FIRE is a collection of different piece of theatre that use dance, fire and music to tell a story. Our first project was Chaos to Calm which was produced in 2021 and funded by Canada Council for the arts.

The NorthFIRE Circus mandate is a combination of disciplines such as fire dance, aerial performance, music, and storytelling. NorthFire Circus creates contemporary circus while incorporating other art forms: it also creates original inclusive material, while cultivating the arts in smaller rural areas. In creating collaborative Theatre on FIRE shows, knowledge is shared between collaborators.

NorthFIRE Circus is female led and the mission is to deliver messages of female empowerment within the work. We are dedicated to the creation and production of contemporary circus arts. The mission is to further develop contemporary circus through encouraging collaboration and integration of other art forms: theatre, dance, film, visual arts and music. Through the development of circus arts into a unique physical language, we create dynamic physical performances that engage with audiences through character, story, complexity of theme and human spectacle, bringing audiences closer to art.
